Hey everyone! Well summer is over and it is time to get out those fall clothes for the upcoming chilly weather. That also means getting out heavier makeup. Or does it? Well just because your clothes are getting thicker doesn’t necessarily mean your makeup has to. I found a new foundation by Cle de Peau that I have fallen in love with. It is their new fluid foundation. Check it out on www.cledepeau-beaute.com. It is so silky and makes your skin fell soft and smooth. It also covers beautifully without feeling “caked” on like a lot of heavier foundations. It is quite expensive, but worth the money. It will also last you a very long time since you only need a very small amount every time you apply it.If you don’t want to dish out the cash for Cle de Peau,then I also found mineral foundations are great as well. They tend to give light to medium coverage but still do the trick. I have really enjoyed my Base Escentuals that I bought from Sephora. Check it out the next time you go into a Sephora. Base Escentuals offers a starters kit with two shades of the foundation, blush, bronzer, brushes and even a”how to guide” dvd for only $60.00. Can’t go wrong with that deal. So don’t feel like you have to bundle up when it comes to your makeup to keep up with the weather because sometimes less is better. Happy shopping!

Toyota Commercial

Last week I had the opportunity to work on the set of another Toyota commercial. I love these opportunities because most commercials are usually in high definition. High definition is always a challenge because every single detail on the face is exposed making makeup application very important. I was head makeup artist on this job. Everyone was wonderful to work with and there were no divas on set. Thank goodness because there is nothing worse than working on someone who is disrespectful and thinks they know everything. I applied makeup to 7 people, men and women, who were all customers of Toyota. It was a testimonial shoot so most of the people were not actors. It’s nice to work with people who know little about how a commercial shoot works because most of the time it is actors. They are amazed of how complex things tend to be just to get a 30 second commercial. They also love to get their makeup done and many of them say it is like they are movie stars. I love to see their excitement in their faces and see their reactions when I show them the results in the mirror. With the women, I wanted them to look like they normally do, but with more definition for television. So I really concentrated on their eyes so people watching the commercial would connect with them and truly believe what they were saying about Toyota. With the men, it was more about evening out the skin tone. So they experienced a lot of powder, concealer, and foundation with a touch of bronzer. They were all great sports about the whole thing. The day was a great success and everyone, including myself, had a memorable time.

Concealer conceals!

Hey everyone! I know that sometimes when we don’t get enough sleep it shows under our eyes. So that is why concealer was invented and thank goodness it was. Make sure when you are shopping for a good concealer that it is the same color or a shade lighter than your skin tone. Do not go too light or too dark. If you go too light then it doesn’t look natural and if you go too dark than it looks like you’ve been in a fight. So really take the time to find the right color for you. Some great concealers are from Cle de Peau (http://www. cledepeau-beaute.com) or the infamous touche eclat from YSL (http://www.YSLBeautyUS.com). What I love about the touche eclat from YSL is that it comes in a tube that is really easy to use. It also is small enough to keep in your purse for touch-ups. Both of these products are on the expensive side, but are worth it. Let me also say that a good eye cream can also help with those dark areas under the eye. Be patient because you have to use the eye cream on a daily basis to get the results you are looking for. So don’t forget that eye cream at night and in the morning and drink lots of water and get lots of sleep. Drink up and sleep tight!

Don’t Be Afraid To Say No!

I know the makeup counters in the big department stores are sometimes more of an intimidation factor than anything else. I want to let you know that it is completely okay to say no thanks to those never ending artists that are dying for you to sit down and let them do your makeup. However, many times this experience can be wonderful and useful. I know that when I was with Trish McEvoy many of my clients became my friends because of the incredible encounter that we experienced together. I always made sure that my clients only bought what they really needed or really wanted. Most of the time artists don’t have the same mindset that I did so keep your eyes open for those who don’t listen to what your needs are. When you come in just for one lipstick and walk out with 20 different products that you really don’t need this is a sign that you were tricked. A lot of the time we feel that if we sit down with an artist that we must buy everything he/she puts on our face. Well I am here to tell you that you don’t have to go broke just because you feel that you can’t say no. It is perfectly fine to sit down with an artist and just buy what you need to buy. Once you feel comfortable with that artist and feel a connection then feel free to try other products. Sometimes this might be initially buying a few things and seeing how helpful that artist is and then coming back to see them at a later date to try more. Because any artist at any makeup counter has a selling goal for that day and sometimes they just want to sell, sell, sell. So stand up for yourself and don’t be afraid to say no.

Valentine’s Day means sexy lipgloss!!!

Well it is that time of year again. The time where you and that special someone enjoys a Valentine’s dinner or event together. I know that the first thing on our minds is looking sexy and hot for your Valentine. So here is a tip! Don’t worry so much with over doing your makeup. Sometimes just a simple red sheer lipgloss can do the trick. So next time you are at the makeup counter or even at the drugstore grab a simple red lipgloss and you are ready for your sweetheart! But be careful! You don’t want a very thick or matte lipstick or lipgloss. These usually are too heavy and can be too much for this soft natural look. Have fun and Happy Valentine’s Day.

Bedtime is no time for Makeup!

Okay ladies I know that sometimes when it is the end of the day and all you want to do is jump into bed without taking that makeup off STOP!!!! It takes two seconds and it will make all the difference in the world. Even if you take a damp washcloth and get all of your makeup off it will be worth it in the end. Just imagine all of the dirt and worn down makeup from the day sitting on your face while you are sleeping comfortably. You might be having a good night’s sleep but your poor skin is getting attacked from all of that grim and build up of your makeup. It needs its rest as well so do both of you a favor and take that extra time to wash your face before going to bed. And don’t forget that moisturizer as well. Your skin needs that extra moisture because most soaps and facial cleansers pull out all of the moisture your skin holds dear. So wash every night and moisturize you will be glad you did.

My Favorite Mascara!

Just wanted to share my favorite mascara with you. Now I know that sometimes the more expensive the product the better. But not all of the time. Cover girl mascara is amazing. It doesn’t clump and it makes my eyelashes lush and full of volume. They have several but my favorite is the one in the purple tube. The best thing about this product is the price and you can find it at any drug store. So next time you are going to spend $25 on a designer mascara try Cover Girl’s and you won’t be sorry!

Two great new products

So today I stopped into one of the MAC stores and found myself trying their new products. I really like the new Moisturelush moisturizer. It is a great moisturizer for the winter. It is a little thicker than a regular moisturizer but we are in the mist of winter so try it out. Your skin usually during this time of year needs a little more help so try a thicker moisturizer. The Start of a New Year
